Dance Academy McDonald Dance Academy is celebrating our
13th year by moving to our new location at 25 S. Dunton in
downtown Arlington Heights. The studio offers classes in ballet, jazz, modern
and tap. Because a dancer needs a strong foundation, Linda McDonald and
her staff, all of whom have degrees in dance or are dancing
professionally, stress proficient use of dance terminology and an
understanding of theory, as well as encouraging participation in
workshops and public performances. As a result, many McDonald
Dance Academy students have won scholarships from Chicago National
Association of Dance Masters, and performed in both Joffrey Ballet
and Schaumburg’s productions of the “Nutcracker.” Believing it is important for students to be exposed to many
different styles of teaching, Linda McDonald a former soloist with
the Ft. Worth Ballet and Fort Worth Opera, has invited many guest
teachers and choreographers from such prestigious companies as
River North, Joffrey Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet and Gus Giordano. The Arlington Dance Ensemble, which is composed of local girls ranging in ages from 10-18, is associated with the
McDonald Dance Academy. The purpose of the Ensemble is to provide dancers an opportunity to take what
they have learned in the classroom and perform it in the area.
Each year, The
Arlington Dance Ensemble presents a Winter Gala and co-hosts the “Dance for Dreams”
concert with the proceeds have being donated to local
charities. “This is a way for the
dancers to use their gift of dance and share it so others may
benefit”, says McDonald. The Arlington Dance Ensemble also
performs annually at Frontier Days Festival, other local functions and many retirement homes. “The
Arlington Dance Ensemble really gives us the opportunity to give
something back to our community and share our gift of dance”,
says Cheryl Olendzki, a former member of the Ensemble. For more information about McDonald Dance Academy or the
